With R/3 SAP AG software and it’s facilities of use in banking sector the specialists of banks of Ukraine got acquainted for the first time in June, 18, 1996 in Yalta, where at the conference «Banking systems and networks» a director of “Soft-Rating” gives a report «Integrated solutions for financially-economic activity management of large banks on the base of R/3 SAP AG software» After the multilateral acquaintance of National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) specialists with functional possibilities of the SAP R/3 system from the point of view of its use in a bank sphere, with prototypes which were developed by SAP AG and “Soft-Rating” and experiments on its functioning in the conditions of domestic bank communication infrastructure, which “Soft-Rating” executed on request of NBU, in April, 1997 was accepted the decision about the use of SAP AG software as an instrument for integrated management system development for the financially-economic activity of the National bank of Ukraine.
Implementation and exploitation of the first turn of project of the system was executed by the specialists of informatization department of NBU, consultative support was provided by SAP CIS with involvement of “Soft-Rating” specialists.
Today the SAP systems support the following processes and functions of management of National bank of Ukraine:
• Cost center accounting;
• Control and monitoring of budget;
• Financial Accounting & Reporting (General ledger, Customers, Vendors, Account of VAT);
• Assets management;
• Purchasing and Materials management;
• Sale of services to the commercial banks and state establishments;
• Account of VAT;
• Planning of profits and expenses by Strategic Enterprise Management (SAP SEM);
• Data Warehouse (SAP BW).
Over 500 employees of NBU from a central office and 25 territorial subdivisions work with the system. From 2004 the basic scope of external consulting support on system development is given by consultants of “Soft-Rating Consult” company, which appears as main contractor and involves, if needed, SAP specialists.
In 2004 R/3 system upgrade from 4.0В version to 4.6С version was executed under the auspices of “Soft-Rating Consult” specialists.
In 2005 the maintenance of bought and sales ledgers were implemented within the framework of transition of NBU to the consolidated account of VAT, complex of the programs for annual report forming concerning basic facilities and immaterial assets of NBU was developed.
On request of NBU subdivisions modifications of the software developed solutions of FI, SD and MM modules are operatively executed with the purpose of development of its functional possibilities and accordance to the current requirements of business-processes of NBU and legislation of Ukraine.
Long-term collaboration of NBU and “Soft-Rating Consult” is one of the factors of the effective use of the SAP systems as management tool by the complicated and dynamic processes of financially-economic activity of the National bank of Ukraine.
